¿Cómo Funciona la Schizandra? Los principales componentes activos de la schizandra son los lignanos (schizandrina, desoxischizandrina, gomisinas y pregomisina), presentes en las semillas de la fruta. La investigación china moderna indica que estos lignanos tienen un efecto protector sobre el hígado además de un efecto inmunomodulador. Los lignanos de la schizandra pueden proteger al hígado activando la producción de glutatión, un potente antioxidante, en las células hepáticas. Los estudios chinos indican también que los lignanos pueden favorecer la regeneración del tejido hepático dañado por influencias dañinas, como el virus de la hepatitis o el alcohol. El fruto de la schizandra también puede tener un efecto adaptogénico (un efecto normalizante o equilibrante sobre distintos sistemas corporales), como el ginseng, pero menos potente. Las investigaciones de laboratorio sugieren que la schizandra puede mejorar el rendimiento laboral, aumentar la resistencia y ayudar a reducir la fatiga.
